Microsoft clusters

experience with SAN technology

participated in disaster recovery testing at remote sites

Supervisory Responsibilities

§ Coordinate and track activities project resources.

Description of Job Responsibilities:

· Support the Server Architect for strategic efforts involving the Server infrastructure in the Data center.

· Ensure that the servers are fully operational by reviewing and testing patches and hot fixes to all code running on servers.

· Assist in developing and maintaining all operating system, hardware and software configurations for Servers.

· Assist in establishing standards for all Servers.

· Meet with vendors to establish hardware roadmaps.

· Develop test plans and Change Management documents with Server Architect

· Test all changes to standard configurations (new revisions), and make recommendations for implementation

· Assist in the design and integration of Server solutions

· Assist Server Architect in creation of cost/benefit analysis

· Interact with other engineering and business units to ensure that all relevant technical requirements and develop proper test environments.

· Work with implementation teams to create deployment plans and methodology.

· Act as a higher level of support to Infrastructure Services engineers on more complex and possibly chronic troubles working through resolution

· Participate in the design and recovery of systems through backup operations and/or Disaster recovery planning

· Review and maintain awareness of all device revisions/bugs/recommendations in the production environment through consistent contact with vendors and/or web notifications.

· Identify and test all patches and fixes for client hardware/operating systems.

· Prepare clear, professional written technical and process documentation for new technologies and practices

· Must be able to work with varying levels of expertise (some persons with minimal understanding of the technology in use)

· Ensure effective project planning, monitoring, issue resolution and achievement of specified quality, timelines, cost and deliverables

· Overall accountability for projects assigned to ensure completion in a timely manner

· Person will participate in 24 x 7 support

· Participate in Disaster recovery exercises as required.

Technical Skills Required:

· Strong knowledge of Server operation systems (Unix, Linux and/or Windows)

· Experience working in mission-critical environment

· Advanced knowledge with installation, configuration and support of Sun and/or HP servers.

· Working knowledge of WAN and LAN Architectures and equipment. (Ethernet Cabling, Frame Relay, Networking Essentials)

· Advanced knowledge in Visio, Excel and Word.

· Advanced experience with UNIX O/S and Unix Scripting and/or Windows Scripting

· Advanced experience with Server Management applications such as: HP Openview

· Strong knowledge with Data storage environments including SANs and NAS devices

Minimal Skills Required:

· Proven knowledge/competency in the above Technical Skills requirements. Any technical certifications in one or more of those skills is desired

· MCSE or equivlant desired but not required

· Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent)

· Minimum 5 years full-time experience in a large Server environment with a minimum of 2 years being in design and analysis of Servering solutions

· Strong knowledge of Project Management concepts and tools

· Must be a self-starter and be able to work well independently and in a team

The job requirements are simple…..expert level senior Microsoft engineer with 5+ years of enterprise level Active Directory and Exchange experience working for global companies. Has to be a nuts and bolts person and not a day to day admin. Must be a Microsoft technologist, hands on familiarity with all of their infrastructure products, VMWare and Citrix experience is a significant plus as well as Microsoft ISA server.

SUMMARY Leading technology company has an immediate need for an experienced Hp-UX systems administrator. Must have proven experience in monitoring, upgrades, tuning, troubleshooting and maintaining HP-UX systems. Must have knowledge of HP Superdomes. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Investigate problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions. 1. Managing HP-UX systems using LVM command line utilities. 2. Ability to install Operating System patches and software. 3. Experience with command line shell scripts, sed, awk, perl to automate environment. 4. Troubleshoot systems, identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties. 5. Identify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectations. Use of HP Glance, Performance Manager, Top etc. 6. Ensure timely on-call notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability. 7. Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by any hosts and network. 8. Document problems and resolutions. 9. Knowledge of HP Ignite, creation of golden images, maintaining server configuration, building new servers. 10. Designing and configuring HP Service Guard clusters. 11. Knowledge of Superdomes, configuration of Vpar’s. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS 1. At least 4+ years of professional HP-UX experience. 2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 3. Ability to work over the phone regarding technical matters with support engineers 4. Knowledge of EMC Storage Arrays or HP XP is a plus. 5. Data Protector backup experience a plus. 6. Ability to learn and support new applications and technical competencies. 7. Responsibilities will require evening and weekend work in response to business requirements.
