Business Analyst-Derivatives
We are seeking an experienced junior – mid level business analyst to work in the
As part of the product development and support team, you will become a product specialist and be involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle (requirements definition, project estimating, functional design, system test, quality assurance, implementation and post implementation support). You will also provide pre-sales support to our clients, prospects and employees worldwide.
The successful candidate is likely to be working, or have previously worked within a small / medium size investment or international bank or hedge fund, in either the middle or back office. Alternatively, they may be working or have worked at a major software supplier developing and supporting solutions for these business lines.
The Role
· Liaise with clients to understand and define user requirements and use these to create functional specifications.
· Liaise with technical counterparts to ensure correct technical and functional flow/design.
· Create test cases to ensure the system processes according to functional specifications and execute tests to ensure functional requirements are met.
· Provide functional guidance to programmers to resolve functional issues.
· Provide implementation support and training to clients.
· Support the sales effort by demonstrating the product and addressing questions.
· Provide input to resolve functional problems reported by clients.
· Occasionally travel to clients for on-site product support or delivery of other customer services offerings
Skills required
· Strong commitment to customer satisfaction
· Minimum 3 years experience working in a treasury / capital markets environment with knowledge of back office operations (settlements and accounting), middle office (position and / or risk), or front office (trading)
· Comprehensive understanding of the characteristics and processing requirements of one or more of the following financial instruments:
o Credit derivatives
o Interest rate swaps
o Structured products
o Options
o Swap options
o Financial futures
o Caps and floors
· Accomplished user of Microsoft Windows and Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
· Strong analytical skills
· Strong technical aptitude
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Self-motivated
A distinct advantage for this position would be:
· Knowledge of the software development cycle
· Financial accounting experience concerning the treatment of the instruments listed above
· SQL experience
· Experience working with VB or VB.net; or with Oracle, Sybase, or SQL databases
