Essential Functions
..Leadership role in the monthly recording, evaluating and reporting of derivative transactions.
..Ensure compliance with FAS 133 hedge accounting qualitative documentation (Short-Cut and Critical Terms Match) and quantitative assessment (ie, regression).
..Review new hedge strategies for compliance with GAAP and Statutory requirements.
..Prepare and review monthly GAAP and Statutory general ledger entries. Support preparation of financial statement disclosures and schedules.
..Responsible for integrity of financial information including reconciling transaction trade details between source system and general ledger.
..Prepare and review monthly financial and management reports.

Requirements
..Minimum 4-7 years experience in an Insurance, Broker-Dealer, Investment Firm, or Corporate Banking environment.
..Hands on experience implementing FAS 133 GAAP hedge accounting requirements. Insurance statutory experience preferred.
..Working knowledge of derivatives and related hedge instruments including interest rate swaps, futures, credit derivatives and fixed income investment products.
..Experience with derivative transaction system processing a plus. Principia experience preferred.
..Strong financial modeling and quantitative analysis skills.
..Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
..Organized, detail oriented & skilled at multi-tasking within tight deadlines.
..Bachelors of Science degree in Finance or Accounting. CPA and/or MBA preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manages the accurate accumulation, preparation and maintenance of financial accounting records for both internal and external reporting.
2. Manages the development of financial statements according to prescribed schedules.
3. Prepares, reviews and recommends improvements in accounting, and financial reporting systems.
4. Manages and/or participates in special projects/assignments as directed by senior management.
5. Reviews and analyzes financial statements and supplemental data for external and management reporting purposes.
6. Works closely with internal auditors, public accountants, federal tax examiners and others as required in performing assigned accounting functions.
7. Manages the preparation of special reports, analyses and financials as requested by management.
8. Represents the department director as assigned for both development and work flow assistance.
9. Responsible for the management of associates

Education: Undergraduate studies in accounting and /or finance. Prefer accounting degree.
Experience: Eight years accounting experience with an insurance company or financial institution, including management/supervision experience.
Knowledge: GAAP and/or STAT accounting principles, practices and procedures, and insurance/financial products regulatory requirements. Product specific knowledge also required, such as investments, tax, property/casualty, life and/or subsidiary accounting and financial analysis.

Skills/Competencies: Ability to manage and train associates in all aspects of assigned accounting record maintenance, and financial statement preparation.
