This position will lead and manage trading front-end development for the Institutional Equities and Clearing businesses. This includes execution management and order management front-end applications for internal clients (trading desks) and external clients. The position will be responsible for defining trading front-end product and service offerings, overseeing product direction, managing the development team, and leading product-related education and support efforts. | |||

This position will lead and manage the efforts to refine and advance the trading front-ends for Institutional Equities and Clearing businesses. This includes execution management and order management front-end applications for internal clients (trading desks) and external hedge fund and buy-side clients. Specifically, the Development Manager will work closely with Bear Stearns’ business management, trading clients/users, the development organization, and client facing teams to: · Define the vision, architecture direction, and product plan for the current front-end o Direction of the product suite, especially with respect to major enhancements and changes o Product definition and architecture; Integration with other trading applications o Coordination of the product development with business, compliance, and operations teams o Budgeting, planning, and program management for the trading front-end product set · Direct the development team in prioritization, development, and adoption of product features and functions: o Develop business cases and cost/benefit analyses o Understand and translate customer’s business needs into functional specifications, with the Analysis team o Prioritize product changes and additions, with client and other partner input o Define functionality of the initial Trading front-end product and subsequent product releases · See product changes through the development life cycle from business requirements through to production. Communicate issues and status to technology and business management. · Manage front-end product and technology–oriented communication efforts o Ensure regular and effective communication with business, trading management and trading teams o Develop product-specific communications, release notes, and user materials o Assist in product demonstration and internal marketing efforts o Develop training/support efforts to drive adoption, use, and customer value · Lead the trading front-end development staff, manage their daily activities, and grow their knowledge of the trading business, competitive environment and client needs. This person will hold responsibility for trading Front-end application development. This person will work closely with the Internal Technology Management, Business Management and Representatives, Installation Teams, Technology Operations, and Support to achieve the objectives above. |

Management Skills and Domain Knowledge: This is a senior development management and product position for someone with at least 7 years experience in a related position managing trading products and application development for a mission critical, real-time IT production environment. Experience designing, architecting and managing trading front-end and execution management systems is required. The candidate must have a very good understanding of equities trading and its workflows. The ideal candidate will have exposure to real-time market data processing, interaction with equities market centers, smart order routing, order types and execution algorithms, and middle-office functionality. Experience with asset classes outside of equities is a plus. Experience with global markets and cross-border trading are pluses. The person will need to interact productively with the business users/representatives to formulate and refine the trading front-end product and development plans. This person will also work with various internal teams and must exhibit proven management and leadership skills. This person must be organized, process minded, detail-oriented, and customer-focused. Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills are a must. Technology Skills: Several years of experience developing and/or managing real-time, low-latency trading front-end and execution management systems is required. Familiarity with C#, C++ and JAVA environments is strongly preferred. Level of Education: B.S/M.S in technology specialty; B.S/M.S./MBA in finance related specialty a plus |
