SR.Market Data Global Engineer

The position is more senior, in terms of depth of experience then the req. You can use the same description, but they’ll have more experience with networking and direct feeds. They will need to architect global Market data infrastructure, liaise with sr. “C” level executives in Equity trading and development.

They can pay up to 200k base for this position.

Basic Function:

The MDS Global Engineering Team is charged with the design and consistent implementation of the global market data distribution system for the bank.

The MDS Global Engineer will participate in the evaluation of strategic market data products for the firm and in their deployment worldwide. This job includes developing test plans for new and updated products, designing infrastructure solutions, and insuring that they are implemented globally in a consistent manner. In addition the position will maintain constant communicating with MDS vendors on issues relating to new versions of their products, and facilitating the best-of-breed approach to solution-sharing.

Primary Responsibility:

1.	30%	Evaluates statistical data and makes recommendations to the Global Head of MDS and the Manager of MDS Global Engineering with the design, deployment and administration of a consistent world-wide digital market data distribution standard for the bank.
2.	25%	New Product Engineering & integration. This covers the following: · technical evaluation (review and understand design, product capabilities, quality, resilience, known problems, etc.) · liaison with the vendor to resolve implementation issues · packaging the product to make it installable automatically on the relevant bank platform · thoroughly testing the package · documenting the product implementation and associated standards · providing assistance to the MDS Regional Operations teams worldwide for the roll out of the product · handing over the product to the MDS Regional Operations teams and Customer Services. · providing third level support on the product.
3.	20%	Project Management – Provide thorough documentation regarding products evaluated, test plans, resources assigned and responsibilities, and demonstrate leadership.
4.	5%	Participate in global version control audit programs and market data distribution system capacity reviews.
5.	5%	Coordinate with other disciplines (Networks, Distributed Computing, Customer Services, et al.) in designing administrative procedures and audit reviews to enhance the operational integrity of the MDS system; plus assist these groups with information on the MDS architecture for deployment of new products or expansion of the MDS system
6.	5%	Assist the CXOs with the integration of market data for application design, development, and implementation which includes an understanding of the MDS architecture and system API.
7.	5%	Maintain channels of communication with vendors to obtain advanced information about future products and version releases, manage globally compiled “bug” list to resolution, insure that vendor products meet our requirements and are kept broadly informed of our plans.
8.	5%	Provide input to the bank’s standards process defining the preferred standards for network-delivered MDS.

Other Responsibilities:

Participate in the global engineering process within distributed computing, to insure that MDS requirements are catered for, and that our proposed solutions are consistent with their standards and time-scale.

· Be available to help with the implementation of global products in all sites (this will probably involve significant travel),

· Be available to help solving problems in all sites (third level support),

· Ensure that global standards are understood and complied with,

· Understand and document global and local requirements for global products,

· Ensure regular participation of local engineering teams in global projects,

· Build a trust relationship between local teams and Global Engineering,

· Work closely with the Business Management team to help it to implement its strategies.

Skills Required:

· Significant experience with digital market data feeds and formats including Reuters RDF, Moneyline/Telerate Feed, Bridge Feed, Inter Dealer Broker Feeds. Significant Experience with transaction products in the form of Electronic Communication Networks (ECN) not limited but to include Reuters Dealing, EBS, NASADAQ L2, Instinet, Cantor Espeed, Garban ETC, BrokerTec and Bloomberg.

· In-depth engineering and operational experience with digital market data delivery systems, preferably Reuters Triarch.

· Knowledge of Reuters front end applications including KOBRA and Reuters Plus.

· Must have Business awareness of the banking industry including Equity, FX, Fixed Income markets.

· Experience developing and implementation comprehensive engineering test plans.

· Significant project management experience.

· Engineering knowledge of UNIX Solaris, NT, Windows 2000 and XP.

· Intermediate knowledge of Marimba Castanet, DHCP, SIMs.

· Working knowledge of data communications as it relates RS232, modems, DSUs, and data circuits and general networking technologies including routers and switches.

· Strong technical writing and oratory skills

· Good working knowledge of MS Office products including Word, Excel and Visio.

· Ability to interface and maintain excellent working relationships with traders, other IT staff and vendors.

· Ability to learn quickly in a fast paced environment.
