POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Senior Network Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology MANAGER: Data Communications Mgr

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs data communications functions 2. Diagnoses problems using network tools, recommends solutions and coordinates repair efforts

3. Develops procedures to support daily operations

4. Monitors the network activities and take preventive actions if necessary

5. Interfaces with vendors to resolve network-related problems

6. Performs traffic measurement, path testing to establish the baseline

7. Evaluates new technology and services to meet the business needs

8. Ensures installed network is operating efficiently and effectively

9. Performs in-depth analysis, document and design of network architectures

10. Establishes technical standards, methods, and priorities

11. Provide secondary support for VoIP and wireless infrastructure

12. Provide on-call support during off-hours on a rotation basis

13. Effectively identify & communicate RISK during course of projects

14. Work with Information Security Engineers to ensure compliance to Corporate Security policy

15. Co-ordinate with Support groups to ensure appropriate monitoring of new solutions, part of rollout

16. Mentoring other team members

17. Incumbent may perform additional tasks and/or special projects as directed by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education: Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, MIS or equivalent

2. Experience: 5-8 years experience in the Data Communication field including multiple routing protocols (EIGRP,BGP, OSPF, PIM or RIP) and large network design in brokerage or banking prefer

3. Special Equipment Knowledge: Cisco routers, switches and wireless

4. Skills: Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, multicast, VoIP and OSI model, Security and VPN

5. Qualities: Demonstrated analytic, written and oral communication skills
