Business Analyst Position

Position Summary

The Business Analyst (BA) has the primary responsibility to elicit, analyze, validate, specify, verify, and manage the real needs of the project stakeholders, including the business or end users. The BA serves as the conduit between the business or customer community and the software development team through which requirements flow.

A BA is involved at some level throughout the entire system or software development life cycle. When the requirements baseline is established at the end of the Requirements and Design phases, the focus is shifted towards the management of the requirements specification and verifying the fulfillment of all requirements during the Implementation and Testing phases.

Job Responsibilities

· Interview business users, subject matter experts and ITG resources to elicit requirements. Produce business requirements and functional specifications using UML.

· Support the implementation of brokerage applications by delivering high-level project proposals and detailed cost-benefit business cases.

· Work with subject matter experts to produce process flow charts, architectural diagrams, and design documents.

· Write user documentation such as user guides, quick reference guides, and release notes.

· Write technical documentation such as system administrator guides.

· Work closely with business users, developers, and other subject matter experts throughout the software development lifecycle.

· Prepare managerial presentations, proposal documents, issue summaries, and technology plans.

Requirements

· Minimum of 5 years experience in a related position providing Business Analysis for mission critical, real time Equities Front and Middle Office trading and transaction systems. Equities market knowledge and a strong familiarity with trading, trading workflows, and trading technology are required. Experience at an established trading systems IT vendor or Brokerage firm is preferred.

· The candidate will work closely with representatives from the Trading/Business, Information Technology, Legal and Compliance, and Operations teams. Experience working with some or all of these areas to define requirements and functional requirements is required.

· Experience in any of the following areas is a plus:

  • Portfolio Program Trading
  • Algorithmic Trading
  • Derivatives (Equity Derivatives -- Index Arbitrage, Structured Funds, Convertibles, Risk Management)
  • Familiarity with Clearance, Retail, International, Fixed Income, and Back Office Operations is also helpful.

· Excellent analytical, written, and verbal skills (writing samples required).

· Ability to multitask, work quickly under pressure, and learn new technologies.

· Excellent organizational skills; project tracking experience using Workbench a plus.

· Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Visio. Familiarity with MS SharePoint, PowerPoint, PhotoShop, PaintShop Pro and SnagIt a plus.
