Job Description:	The Consultant will report to the Vice President of Professional Services . install, train, and implement products. Consultants are trained in and assigned to one of the product families: MUST have superior communication skills, technical problem solving skills, and a customer orientation such that they can travel to customer sites alone and handle any issue that arises as the customer implements the products. The role is ideal for someone with a foundation as a developer who wishes to build and mature consulting skills. The position requires use of technical skills to resolve issues and build patches and will offer candidates an opportunity to acquire new technical skills. More importantly, this position provides the opportunity to add consulting skills giving the candidate an opportunity to interact with Fortune 500 companies. Consultants interact with customers from director level to DBA in both sales and professional services situations. The size of the organization provides the opportunity for variety in assignments and a constant opportunity to learn and grow. The Consultant will require the following skill set. Skills: - Superior communication skills. Must be able to write a grammatically correct English sentence. Must be able to speak clearly and be understood easily over the phone. Must be comfortable speaking with customers as well as communicating via Email. - Excellent development skills. Development of software patches represents 30% of the job description. Patch development requires experience finding and solving problems in code developed by someone else. Requires ability to fix code vs rewrite it. o 2-3 years experience with Java required o 2-3 years experience with PL/SQL or equivalent required - Superior problem solving skills. Problem solving represents 60% of the job description. Must have experience quickly learning a software product or tool. - Excellent knowledge of a Financial, HR, or CRM business application, either homegrown or a packaged application. Candidate must be able to speak about business process flows within the application of choice. Experience in Oracle Apps, Peoplesoft, or Siebel is a plus. - Excellent database knowledge. Must have experience with performance tuning, and light DBA tasks such as creation and maintenance of databases. Experience in Oracle 9i is required. Experience in SQL Server, DB2 UDB for UNIX, and/or DB2 UDB for z/OS is a plus. - Superior SQL Skills. SQL forms the basis of the metadata which drives both the products. Experience developing database agnostic highly complex SQL is a requirement. - Knowledge of J2EE application servers - Tomcat, 10gAS, WebLogic, JBOSS, and/or Sun1 is a plus. These application servers are a part of the technology stack. Consultants must learn to install and configure all application servers listed above. - Experience working for a major consulting firm working as a technical resource with high level customer contact is a plus. . Job requires 60% travel or greater. Travel to a customer site frequently requires a Sunday night to Friday trip.
