Job Description: Legal Assistant/Junior Paralegal

Description of Responsibilities:

I. Management of Legal Documentation

· Identify, organize and prepare legal documents for coding and scanning into the record management application); work with administrative assistant to ensure organization of hard copy files; examples of documents include organizational documents, agreements, correspondence, etc.

· Create an audit system that will ensure the proper scanning, filing and subsequent disposal of various documents

· Assist in the preparation of required documents and other account information in relation to buy-side transaction agreements (e.g. Repo agreement requirements)

· Assist in preparation of required documents and/or company and account information in relation to various account questionnaires and Requests for Proposals/Information

· Respond to internal requests for documentation

II. Take responsibility for the Agreement Review Tracking process for the IT/Facilities agreements

a. Maintain ART log for Requests for Legal Review from IT and Facilities
b. Collaborate with attorneys to ensure turn-around time for review completion is met (e.g., facilitate review by preparing all documentation that is relevant to review)

c. Collaborate with IT/Facilities personnel to ensure receipt by Legal of fully-executed documents

III. Process requests for QIB certification and maintain database of QIB accounts

IV. Provide back-up support for other attorneys/paralegals in the group

Ideal candidate should be able to:

· Make distinctions between various types of legal documents (e.g., able to distinguish between board resolution from China, a selling agreement with Morgan Stanley, an inquiry from the NASD, and a contract with Hewlett Packard)

· Work with Hummingbird system (huge plus) or similar record management application

Qualifications:

· 2-3 years experience, preferably in a law firm, the legal department of an asset management firm, or in Operations of asset management firm/brokerage

· College degree
· Highly organized

· Mature, patient, discreet and with positive attitude

· High degree of dependability/reliability

· Takes pride in work and endeavors to constantly upgrade level of deliverables

· Professional
· Willing to work with team and take on other related responsibilities if need be
