Description and Duties:
>
> This position is for a Technology Lead on the Information Technology
> division's Investment Banking Technology (IBT) Knowledge Management
> team. The IBT Knowledge Management team is responsible for
> developing, maintaining, and supporting the eBanker application suite
> used by Lehman's Investment Banking Division (IBD). These
> applications cover a range of concepts within the banking community,
> including contact management, performance measurement, client
> communication, and management reporting. The team works closely with
> the business strategy team to design, build, test, and deploy
> solutions to increase the productivity of the banking community. The
> ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a strong
> technical background. They should also have experience developing and
> supporting a 24/7 financial system in a fast-paced environment, as
> well as experience in a broad range of technologies and a strong eye
> for good strategic and technology practices. The candidate should
> also be very comfortable communicating with business analysts and
> members of the business community frequently, and should have proven
> experience in managing small teams.
>
> Responsibilities:
>
> * Work with IBT management and business strategy team to identify
> functional and technical solutions to meet business process
> requirements.
>
> * Develop effective software solutions to these requirements, operate
> comfortably in each tier of the application (database, infrastructure,
> middleware, presentation layer), and guide junior team members to
> adhere to strong technical standards and best practices.
>
> * Use a range of strategies and expertise to explain to others the
> importance of ideas or concepts and technology solutions. Influence
> and drive decisions and direction based on technical expertise.
>
>
> Requirements:
>
> * 4 - 5 years of professional experience, preferably in a financial
> services environment (Wall St. experience a plus)
>
> * Track record / demonstrated ability in driving technical and process
> improvements within a development team, and proven ability to lead a
> small team of developers.
>
> * Ability to multi-task and switch gears to meet changing priorities
> and tasks to accomplish goals/objectives of the firm, not just
> individual tasks. Should be comfortable with ambiguity.
>
> * Able to proactively identify potential issues and propose
> resolutions, or identify future opportunities for improvement without
> guidance.
>
> * Ability to manage technical projects from the initiation through
> completion stages.
>
> * Excellent oral and written communications skills - particularly the
> ability to convey and explain information, opinions, and arguments
> coherently and confidently both within the technology group and to end
> users.
>
> * Ability to "manage up" well, including owning issues/support,
> managing expectations, and escalating appropriately to management.
>
> * Willing to readily share information and learning experiences, and
> proactively participating in technical/architectural team meetings and
> decision-making processes. Able to motivate junior team members to
> participate in this process.
>
> * Very strong level of proficiency with Sybase/SQL (relational
> database design, stored procedure development, building reporting
> queries), including ability to identify performance problems
> proactively and apply appropriate tuning. Comfortable understanding
> and working with data within a large (1000+ tables, 3000+ stored
> procedures) database.
>
> * Extensive experience with Crystal Reports, Crystal Enterprise
> Server, sub-reports, complex formatting, and charting
>
> * Extensive experience with Microsoft/IIS development - Strong ASP
> knowledge/skills and Visual Basic/.NET proficiency.
>
> * Extensive experience with web-based J2EE development - proficiency
> with BEA Weblogic and familiarity with a Struts-like architecture a
> strong plus. Proficiency with XML/XSL, CSS, and JavaScript required
> (including familiarity with XML-over-HTTP/AJAX concepts).
>
> * Experience with ETL (Informatica) and/or ETL tool concepts
>
> * Experience monitoring application infrastructure including
> understanding app server logs, managing disk space issues on shared
> resources, monitoring CPU and memory utilization, and database
> performance monitoring.
>
> * Experience working in a Linux environment, including performing
> builds/deployments of J2EE applications, shell scripting, and working
> with CVS.
>
> * Additionally, experience/exposure to the following areas is a plus:
> * Business Objects
> * Data Warehousing concepts
