Senior Network Engineer

Division: Enterprise Solutions

Subsidiary: Enventis Telecom

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Director of Enterprise Services

Salary Grade: 9

Position Summary:

Provide advanced design, implementation and operational support services for Enventis customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Efficiently deliver high quality Cisco focused services to Enventis customers.

2. Apply expert knowledge of Cisco equipment to designs and implementation of customer networks.

3. Work directly with Enventis customers to provide high quality network discovery, design, implementation, and support services.

4. Compose and write customer documentation.

5. Meet customer and internal deadlines for deliverables

6. Effectively resolve or provide work-around for customer problems using Cisco TAC case management.

7. Recommend and implement software updates in specialized product areas including Cisco, IOS, CCM, Unity and associated connected systems.

8. Create and implement troubleshooting and problem resolution plans as needed.

9. Maintain expert knowledge of troubleshooting configurations, traces and dumps, and other information for products supported by Enventis.

10. Available on-call to assist with customer situations and trouble tickets as needed.

11. Study and learn new products, protocols, and networking technology.

12. Act as a liaison between the engineering team and other departments within Enventis.

13. Lead projects assigned by Enventis management as requested.

14. Mentor other engineers.

15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Relationships:

Work closely with external and internal customers. Communicate with other departments regularly. Report to Director of Enterprise Services.

Work Conditions/Equipment:

Work performed indoors with physical activity consisting of normal office work. Utilize basic office machines and computer equipment daily. Travel required. Regular and timely attendance required.

Minimum Qualifications:

· 4-year degree in computer science, math, engineering or other related field or the equivalent in experience.

· 5 years networking experience preferably in the telecommunications industry.

· In-depth knowledge of Cisco equipment implementation and software configurations.

· In-depth knowledge of IP and related protocols.

· Networking system concepts with knowledge in at least four of the following: Cisco CCNP, MCSE 2000 or equivalent, multiservice/network design, LAN/WAN protocols, fault resolutions and resolution techniques, network tools such as protocol analyzers, network security, UNIX/NT/W2K OS, or HP OpenView and CiscoWorks.

· Excellent analytical troubleshooting skills.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong customer service skills.

· Strong organizational skills.
