SUMMARY:


The Derivatives Prime Brokerage (DPB) Institutional Portal is a sophisticated technology interface that has been built by to allow clients to manage an extensive portfolio of derivative contracts similar to a major dealer. The technology leverages nternal trading and trade processing infrastructure - offering unsurpassed functionality across capital management, risk analytics, transaction management (confirmations and payments) and administration (statements, valuations) to our clients.

The team is responsible for building systems used to run this business globally. The business aim is to rely on Straight Through Processing (STP) as much as possible as well as to continue increasing the breadth of the product set - enabling scale in number and size of client portfolios. It also focuses on having the most functional and appealing client portal interface, which is often key in attracting initial business.

Since the DPB desk is active in New York, London, and Hong Kong, our team has to have a global presence. We will have developers in each region working closely with their respective desk to define new requirements. The business is a very dynamic environment and the growth of the business and revenue has been extraordinary.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role of Analyst/Developer involves a number of different responsibilities:

The role is working in a dynamic front-office trading environment in the Derivatives Prime Brokerage (DPB) business, developing and supporting global internal proprietary applications, client facing applications (Institutional Portal), and integration with 3rd party service providers and trading liquidity hubs…within a global team of 14-18 people.

It involves developing innovative technical solutions to challenging business problems. In the area of analysis and design, you will work with clients, the Derivatives Prime Brokerage desk, other franchise derivatives technology teams, and operations analysts globally to define requirements for new applications or enhancements to existing tools. Candidates will be exposed to and learn a wide variety of technologies as well as financial products.

Responsibilities include development of and support of the Derivatives Prime Brokerage platform. This includes analysis, defining project scope, design, development, testing and deployment. Working with other developers on the global team, you will write, review, test and implement software to manage client risk management tools and trading flows. This role will require the Analyst/Developer to work on all stages of the software development cycle. Candidates must be able to multi-task and prioritize appropriately.

No specific finance background is required but a desire to understand the financial products and client needs is crucial.


EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

*Technical Skills*
-Strong programming skills in one or more procedural/object oriented languages (C/C++, Java).
-Experience in one or more of the following operating systems: Solaris, Linux, and Windows.
-Knowledge of Perl, csh, Sybase, SQL is preferred.


*Interpersonal Skills*
-Solid communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
-Strong analytical skills are a must.
-Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks.
-Work experience in financial services industry a plus.
-The firm and the department are very focused on using technology to increase profitability, so it is critical that the person is able to adapt to whichever technology or platform best achieves that goal
