Server Side Systems Developer

A profitable media and advertising company is looking for a smart, dedicated person to join its team of Server Side Developers. Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where you can apply your engineering skills to develop creative solutions to tough problems? Do you like working with a team of dedicated individuals on client-server applications with millions of end-users?

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

- 5 or more years of PERL development experience preferably in Linux or UNIX

- 5 or more years of experience with relational databases and web applications

- 5 or more years of experience with Apache Web server

- 3 or more years of experience working in Linux or UNIX

RESPONSIBILITES/REQUIREMENTS

- Ability to determine unique and creative solutions to problems within a rapid development environment.

- Apply critical thinking and quantitative skills to improve efficiency of the business

- Design high-quality, modular database-driven applications to help solve current and future problems

- Optimize queries, indexes, and stored procedures to increase database throughput, availability, scalability, redundancy, superior performance and quick recoverability

- Develop reports and custom queries for internal and external users.

- Communicate well and participate in a fast-paced team environment

- Recommend strategies to take advantage of database capabilities for new and existing projects.

- Interact with other developers and personnel to create and test applications

- Work with representatives of business units to gather requirements and define project scope

- Generate internal documentation describing software developed.

DESIRED TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

- Working knowledge of CVS version control system

- Intermediate knowledge of Linux systems administration

- Experience with the LogiXML or Crystal reporting platform is a plus

- Perl CGI as well as modern templating environments such as HTML::Template and Mason

- HTML and JavaScript
