Job Description:

Business Analyst _ 85-95K

The ideal candidate will become part of a Project Management Group within the IT organization.

The PM group partners with business units and staff groups across the company to transform business defined IT strategies and opportunities into solutions using a structured project management process.

Business Analysts are integral to the Project Management Team on as many as 3-6 projects at a time depending on the size and complexity, and may be required to assume project management responsibilities for smaller Projects.

Business Analysts work with the Business Owner, Project Sponsor, Director of Project Management/ Project Manager, Application Development, and Design and Testing teams throughout a project's lifecycle.

The candidate will report directly to the Director of Project Management

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a liaison between business team and the project team by assisting the business in identifying, understanding, and documenting their business needs with due consideration to business rules and business logic.
  • Communicating with the business on a non-technical level, and with the development team on a more technical level.
  • Define and manage project scope and write the Project Charter under the guidance of Project Manager
  • Own the requirement gathering, documentation, review and sign-off process for business requirements, functional specifications, use cases, and test case scenarios.
  • Interview business owner and documents business requirements and develop Business Requirement document (BRD), functional specification document (FSD), System Architecture Design (SAD) and Project Plan. Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Iterative Software Development.
  • Proven skills in Process Flow Analysis and Diagrams, Business Modeling and Use Case Development.
  • Conducting gap analysis between the current and future system. Experience in conducting SWOT analysis, Cost benefit analysis and ROI analysis.
  • Design business process for applications and also reverse mapping of business process from the application.
  • Design User Interface (UI) and wire frames, sitemaps, good background in development and design of web applications
  • Should be well versed in drafting communications and status updates on projects & assist the business with post go-live enhancements and improvements.
  • Work with and manage outside vendor relationships. Knowledge of the RFP process, vendor evaluation and selection.
  • Interact continually with the IT operations group to ensure specifications are in line with most efficient available technical solutions.
  • Support development and QA teams during development and test phases; answer questions and provides detail on specifications on an as-needed basis.
  • Work with the QA Team and facilitate Whitebox testing, Integration testing, Functional Testing, Regression Testing and UAT (User Acceptance Testing) to make sure that all the user requirements are catered to by the application.
  • Be actively involved in the Training of the end users and facilitate transition.

Requirements

4-5 years experience in Business Analysis and project management methodology.
  • Excellent Decision making and analytical abilities as
  • this job function is frequently confronted with new and unique problems, and requires in depth understanding of the interaction between business and technology. It also requires a proactive approach toward managing expectations and deliverables. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expertise in using MS Visio and MS Project.

Business Analyst Position

Position Summary

The Business Analyst (BA) has the primary responsibility to elicit, analyze, validate, specify, verify, and manage the real needs of the project stakeholders, including the business or end users. The BA serves as the conduit between the business or customer community and the software development team through which requirements flow.

A BA is involved at some level throughout the entire system or software development life cycle. When the requirements baseline is established at the end of the Requirements and Design phases, the focus is shifted towards the management of the requirements specification and verifying the fulfillment of all requirements during the Implementation and Testing phases.

Job Responsibilities

· Interview business users, subject matter experts and ITG resources to elicit requirements. Produce business requirements and functional specifications using UML.

· Support the implementation of brokerage applications by delivering high-level project proposals and detailed cost-benefit business cases.

· Work with subject matter experts to produce process flow charts, architectural diagrams, and design documents.

· Write user documentation such as user guides, quick reference guides, and release notes.

· Write technical documentation such as system administrator guides.

· Work closely with business users, developers, and other subject matter experts throughout the software development lifecycle.

· Prepare managerial presentations, proposal documents, issue summaries, and technology plans.

Requirements

· Minimum of 5 years experience in a related position providing Business Analysis for mission critical, real time Equities Front and Middle Office trading and transaction systems. Equities market knowledge and a strong familiarity with trading, trading workflows, and trading technology are required. Experience at an established trading systems IT vendor or Brokerage firm is preferred.

· The candidate will work closely with representatives from the Trading/Business, Information Technology, Legal and Compliance, and Operations teams. Experience working with some or all of these areas to define requirements and functional requirements is required.

· Experience in any of the following areas is a plus:

  • Portfolio Program Trading
  • Algorithmic Trading
  • Derivatives (Equity Derivatives -- Index Arbitrage, Structured Funds, Convertibles, Risk Management)
  • Familiarity with Clearance, Retail, International, Fixed Income, and Back Office Operations is also helpful.

· Excellent analytical, written, and verbal skills (writing samples required).

· Ability to multitask, work quickly under pressure, and learn new technologies.

· Excellent organizational skills; project tracking experience using Workbench a plus.

· Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Visio. Familiarity with MS SharePoint, PowerPoint, PhotoShop, PaintShop Pro and SnagIt a plus.
