Responsibilities:

* Candidate will be developing custom web-based applications for a variety of projects to support the firm's business.

* Will be responsible for designing, building, and testing browser-based applications.

* Will provide support and maintenance of existing and new applications.

* Will interact with project managers, business analysts and project stakeholders for purposes of requirements gathering/validation and solution design.

Requirements:

* Must be extremely proficient with core Java technologies, including but not limited to: multi-threading, sockets, Collections, and Java design patterns.

* Must be proficient in J2EE technologies, especially servlets, JSP, JMS, session management, and J2EE design patterns.

* Must have a very good understanding of object-oriented design and programming and be able to put this knowledge into practice.

* Must be highly skilled in database programming, SQL, relational data modeling, writing stored procedures, tuning queries and debugging SQL issues.

* Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be fluent in English.

* Must be proficient in HTML, DHTML and Cascading Stylesheets (CSS).

* Must have good understanding of XML, XSLT, XML Schemas, XPath and related technologies.

* Desirable to have experience with Tomcat, Weblogic, or Websphere and J2EE configuration and deployment.

* Desirable to have knowledge of Unix/Linux.

Job Description:

Responsible for leading the next generation development of Charles River Development technology efforts and ensure the proper alignment of technology platform in support of business processes. This is a newly created management position. Will be responsible for recommending tactical and strategic changes while considering the integration of both third party vendor solutions and proprietary systems pertaining to middle and back office support departments.

Competencies:

· 10-15 years of experience with information systems development or implementation with progressively more complex responsibilities in a client service oriented environment required.

You will support both the STS Point of Sale systems as well as the STS host systems for our 61 retail stores located throughout the United States. Responsibilities include ensuring all stores polled successfully, downloading price files, processing EDI files as well as perform regularly scheduled computer room tasks (i.e. backups, software updates, etc.). You will also handle Help Desk support and follow-up on outstanding issues. You will also be responsible for staging, testing and installing POS equipment in our new stores.

To qualify you must have the following attributes:

  • Be customer service oriented with a customer focused attitude.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written.
  • A bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • A retail systems background with POS and merchandising system familiarity (STS (NSB), SAP, Triversity and/or Oracle a plus).
